The BAD news is that January is the month that tests the optimism of the nordic skier, and this year has been particularly lousy.  Boo.

The GOOD news is that the various wintry mix events have left a crust of snow over most trails, so even a small snowfall will have us in business.  The trails can be skied on an older pair of skis you don't mind beating up a bit.

In other GOOD news:
- The past 2 Sundays, Mike Carey has led a bunch of young Bill Kochers to more fun than you'd think possible on an inch or two of snow.  Amazing!
- Winter will get better!  And when it comes, we'll all be out there packing in a whole lot of fun skiing into whatever we get for a season.

In the meantime, if you're looking for a road trip, I hear good things about the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center and Great Glen trails.

This is the time of year to dig deep and pull out your best snow dance.
