hank you ANSA volunteers!
We had a very productive work day yesterday, completing everything on the list. We were joined by the Bates Nordic team who waxed all the loaner skis in the ski shed, and the Bates Outing Club who gave the snowshoe trails the clearing they needed.
- seeded and hayed
- weed whacked snowshoe trail prickers
- made trail signs wind-proof
- cut all those low hanging branches over Ken's drop
- made a kids' obstacle course that is the envy of all
- excavated more drainage
- cleaned out trenches
- moved downed trees
- re-routed seeping water to keep trail dry
- put snowshoe bridges in position and anchored with rebar (fingers crossed)
- removed pesky roots that were a faceplant waiting to happen
If you missed the fun, there are a couple remaining tasks:
1. Take some loppers to the saplings that grow up between the road and the wall, making more room for roadside parking. Drag and toss what you cut to the end of the learning area.
2. You can always walk the trails with a pair of loppers or hand saw and cut anything encroaching on the trail space - look high, and don't be shy. More will grow back.
Membership renewal announcement will come out soon. Spread the word!
