Grooming and conditions 1/21/2018

There will be no new grooming today due to temperatures staying well above freezing.  Skiing could be fun in these spring like conditions.  Please ski with caution due to thin coverage in many spots.

All trails were groomed yesterday for both skating and classic.  We were even able to take groomer out the Pond Loop.  We will not groom today due to very warm temperatures.  Grooming will resume early tomorrow morning.  Snowshoe trails are in great shape.

Help needed January 27th

As part of our mission of promoting skiing in our community, ANSA has rented a trailer of nordic ski equipment from the Outdoor Sport Institute (OSI, formerly Maine Winter Sport Foundation) to have available on the weekend of the Auburn Winterfest.  Our goal is to introduce kids and adults to skiing and to our fabulous trails.

Most trails were groomed yesterday and track set wherever possible.  Skating lanes will be touched up with groomer this morning.  Pond Loop has been rolled but we cannot take groomer back there due to washout.  Water’s Edge Trail by Lapham Brook can be skied but will not be groomed until damage is fixed.  If you ski that trail just be very careful crossing ice shelf.  Cross with skis off if you question your ability.  Get out there and ski in these summer conditions.

Our trails are coated with 4-5 inches of new snow.  Grooming will occur this AM.  Skiers are reporting that you can ski Water’s Edge Trail by Lapham Brook.  There is one  small washout that is easy to get over.  We may not groom that trail until we get more snow.  Please ski under control as some trails have small washouts due to last weeks rain.  We are going to try to lay track if at all possible.
